FATHER AND SON
Once Again I draw on the work of Gislebertus, one of the few medieval cathedral sculptors whose name we know. It is hard to know what he intended in this bas relief of a father who projects both majesty and youthful joy while tenderly holding his son. Gislebertus had the ability to give human dimension to sublime mysteries. Time and change are constant, and often sorrowful. Yet to be alive is to visit what it is to be held and loved and struck with wonder.
